গত (১৪.০৪.২৬) দুপুরে হাওড়া জিআরপি জেলার অন্তর্গত বর্ধমান জিআরপি থানার পুলিশ, বর্ধমান রেল স্টেশনের ২ ও ৩ নম্বর প্ল্যাটফর্মের নিকটবর্তী ফুট ওভার ব্রিজে (FOB) নিয়মিত তল্লাশি চালানোর সময়, দুজন ব্যক্তির কাছ থেকে ৩৯,৬০,০০০/- টাকার হিসাব-বহির্ভূত নগদ অর্থ এবং সিম কার্ডসহ দুটি মোবাইল ফোন (Samsung Galaxy M35 ও Oppo) উদ্ধার করে। ধারণা করা হচ্ছে যে, এই নগদ অর্থ চুরি বা প্রতারণামূলক উপায়ে সংগ্রহ করা হয়েছে—বিশেষত নির্বাচনী আচরণবিধি (Model Code of Conduct) বলবৎ থাকার এই সময়ে।

On 14.04.2026 at approximately 02:25 PM, an officer of Burdwan GRP Police Station under Howrah GRP District formally lodged a complaint regarding the apprehension of two individuals.
Both accused persons are residents of Samastipur, Bihar, and are presently residing at Badamtala, Burdwan.
During a routine preventive check conducted at Burdwan Railway Station, specifically at the Foot Over Bridge near Platforms No. 2 and 3, the said individuals were found in possession of suspicious/unaccounted cash amounting to ₹39,60,000/- (Rupees Thirty-Nine Lakh Sixty Thousand only). 
In addition, two mobile phones—one Samsung Galaxy M35 and one Oppo handset—along with their respective SIM cards, were recovered from their possession.
There is reasonable suspicion that the recovered cash may be linked to unlawful activities such as theft or fraudulent transactions, particularly in view of the ongoing Model Code of Conduct period.
The entire seizure process was conducted as per procedure and duly documented through videography.
Accordingly, Burdwan GRPS Case No. 25/2026 dated 14.04.2026 has been registered in this regard.
Both accused persons will be produced before the Hon’ble Court at Purba Bardhaman on 15.04.2026.
