Last night during midnight checking a team of GRP headed by SI Ajit Dolai of Asansol GRP Thana under Howrah GRP District spotted a suspicious movement on the Railway Platform and chased one male suspect with a bag. The suspect was caught by them after a run and was identified as Mangilal (53 yrs), resident of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh.
By opening his bag a huge quantity of silver ornaments were recovered to the tune of 2.205 kg.
After a thorough questioning it was learnt that the suspect along with his associates had committed theft at a Jewellery shop in Dhanbad two days ago and decamped with the booty.
Accordingly, a specific case has been started at Asansol GRP Thana and investigation is in progress. The accused is now in Police Custody.
Dhanbad Police has been informed about the development.
